Fatima Siad - America's Next Top Model Cycle 10 contestants. Who doesn't know Fatima? Top 3 ANTM cycle 10 originally from Mogadishu, Somalia. Fatima is famous for her unique features, charming black skin like an African Princess, natural beauty that reminds us of the legendary supermodel Iman, and of course her bold personality in the early episodes of ANTM Cycle 10 until she was nicknamed 'mega bitch' by ANTM fans!
However, it turns out that she has a lot of bad memories in her life that make her defensive and seem arrogant. She underwent female genital cutting when she was seven years old. Her two sisters were killed by the Somali army during the civil war (and she saw it with her own eyes) and when she was 13 years old finally Fatima and her mother left Somalia and moved to Boston, United States to seek safety and a better life. When she was in high school, she attended the Boston University Upward Bound TRIO program and thanks to her intelligence, Fatima received a Posse Scholar and became a student at Bryn Mawr College in 2004. Shortly thereafter, she transferred to New York University majoring in pre-med and political science. It was in New York that she enrolled in ANTM and found her new world ... Not only wanting to be a model, Fatima registered as an ANTM participant as well because she wanted to inspire other young girls. Yeah, she spoke openly about female genital circumcision and her hopes for changing the practice to make it “less horrendous” for young girls.
The lack of experience may make Fatima's performance in the competition not too good, she received three first call-outs and four bottom-two appearances but thanks to her potential model and strong personality she was able to survive until the final stage 3. Fatima is said to be high fashion trinity from cycle 10 with two other models, Anya Rozova and Katarzyna Dolinska because of their modelesque features but unfortunately these three models failed to win ANTM cycle 10 and yes, of course many fans were disappointed and regretted Whitney's victory in that cycle. After the show in one interview, Fatima stated that she felt that the show was a joke and thought Claire Unabia, Lauren Utter, Katarzyna Dolinska or Anya Rozova should have won or at least not have been eliminated as early as they were. She also stated that the show may be based on politics.
After the competition, Fatima kept trying to reach her dream of becoming a model and finally she managed to prove herself capable and also succeeded in breaking the ANTM curse that ANTM alumni would not succeed in the real modeling industry. Fatima is a best-selling model for catalogs, lookbooks, runway and editorial magazines such as Elle, Cosmogirl and Marie Claire. With her beauty, Fatima has become an ambassador for various cosmetic brands such as Avon, Arbonne, L'Oreal, Sam Fine and others and thanks to Fatima's persistence, she is now one of the most successful ANTM alumni (and perhaps also among the NTM fanchise alumnus) by successfully becoming a model runways for blue chip designs such as Hermes, Giorgio Armani & Ralph Lauren and the BCBG campaign and Herve Leger by Max Azria. Well done Fatima!
