Duckie Thot - 2nd Runner Up of Australia's Next Top Model cycle 8. Stunning black queen who conquer the fashion industry by storm! Yes, Ducky is currently the talk of the fashion industry, why not? With her gorgeous features, she is often called the black barbie and has been selling well in various fashion campaigns and shows.
Duckie's big family is a an immigrants from South Sudan who moved to Australia due to the civil war that occurred there. And Duckie is the first daughter born and raised in Melbourne, Australia. Modeling is no stranger to Duckie, since childhood she has often accompanied her sister who worked as a model. And this is what inspired her to become a model and auditioning for AusNTM cycle 8 in 2013 was Duckie's first step into the world of fashion.
With her unique look and great potential, it's no wonder Duckie got to the 2nd runner up position, but her lack of experience and still too 'green' made her fail to win the title, Australia's Next Top Model. Graduating from AusNTM, Duckie decided to take modeling seriously, she joined Chadwick Models, thickening her portfolio and curling her body to fit the sample size of the model. Her efforts paid off, Duckie became a quite well-known model in Australia!
In 2017, she made the decision to move to Brooklyn, New York in hopes that she could become a more successful model in America. In New York, she got multiple offers to sign with agencies and ultimately chose to sign with New York Model Management. The Yeezy SS 2017 show at New York Fashion Week became her first show in New York and Ducky's presence immediately caught the attention of fashion circles.
Her career journey has not always been smooth. Duckie often experiences discrimination because of his black skin. It is difficult for her to find a hair stylist who can adjust her natural hair and makeup artists often do not have a color shade that matches her skin tone. In fact, she had a clash with fellow NTM alumna, Winnie Harlow, who laughed at Duckie's real hair
All that didn't stop Duckie in her tracks. Thanks to her charm, honed modeling skills and her sweet and sociable character, Duckie is increasingly recognized and becomes a popular model. A number of well-known fashion magazines such as Italian Vogue, British Vogue, Vogue Japan, Harper's Bazaar, Marie Clare, W Magazine to V Magazine, are adding to the length of their editorial list. It didn't stop there, Duckie also appeared for well-known fashion brands for their campaigns such as Balmain, Moschino, Vivienne Westwood, Oscar De La Renta, Fenty beauty, L'Oreal Paris (as global brand ambassador), Topshop and even running for well-known underwear brands in world, Victoria's Secret, just 1 year after he debuted in New York. Now Duckie is counted as one of the best selling models and she is currently ranked on the "Money Girls" list on models.com.
