Top Model - Layla Ong

Layla Ong - 11th place of Asia's Next Top Model cycle 5.  The First Singaporean Model To Walk The Gucci Runway. It’s not every day that a Singaporean model makes waves in the international fashion community, but Layla Ong, did exactly that when she walked the runway at Milan Fashion Week exclusively for Gucci’s fall/winter 2018 show.

She was the fourth out of 14 girls to get kicked out of Cycle 5 in 2017. Her run in the competition may be very short, and her shy character may not fit the reality show but her beauty was undeniable, she is one of those models with high fashion potential and modelesque feature in the model house. After the competition, Layla said that she didn’t curl into a ball and give up. She tells us, “As (the show) was not a veracious depiction of the real (modelling) industry, the position did not affect her. Instead, the show gave her exposure and her supporters propelled Layla to continue modelling.

After the show, Layla is definitely more mature and focused now. There is a clearer picture of what she want to achieve in life and her modeling career. Layla worked hard and soon it paid off, she made fashion history when she walked the Gucci FW'18 show in Milan exclusively. And this has brought other successes to Layla's career, such as modeling for the 2019 Gucci Gift Giving Campaign, modeling for Pomelo fashion, one of the biggest fashion brands in Asia and appearing for various fashion magazines such as Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, L'Officiel, Prestige and Nylon.

Now she is named as the most successfull model from Asia's Next Top Model and the success doesn't stop here. Hopefully Layla succeeds in becoming one of Asia's top models, amen!
