Top Model - Sabina Karlsson
Sabina Karlsson - 6th place of Scandinavia's Next Top Model cycle 3. The straight-size model who turned into plus-size model Superstar! Sabina Karlsson has been turning heads since childhood. Born with Gambian and Swedish descent, make her feature looks so unique. Discovered at around the age of 4 in a Swedish hair salon, the vividly red-haired and freckled Karlsson was a successful child model.
At 16 years old, Sabina entered Scandinavia's Next Top Model and she is proud to represent Sweden in the competition but unfortunately her journey ends in 6th place. After ScNTM, Sabina jump into modeling world and found her success. She was a successful child model who transitioned into the world of high fashion. She quickly found success slinking down the runway for designers like Jean Paul Gaultier and Betsey Johnson.
However, Sabina gained weight as she grew older. So, she embarked on a crushing battle against her natural size; she restricted her diet and worked out up to three times a day. "I just hit this point where I was so tired,” Karlsson told Refinery29 in July. "I couldn’t go out with my friends because I had to bring my own food. I was constantly thinking about what I could eat and what I couldn’t eat. I just couldn’t enjoy my life — and I wanted to." After Karlsson's agency dropped her, her journey to her natural, current weight began. So did her path to a successful career in the plus-size industry.
Having modeled the plus-size market for the past five years, Karlsson has seen a wave of change sweep the industry. With opportunities for models of all shapes and sizes finally becoming a reality, now she appear in many big fashion brand like H&M, Lane Bryant, J. Crew, Mango, L'Oreal Paris and more and big magazines like Vogue US, Glamour US, L'Officiel US, Harper's Bazaar, Elle and many more!
